(photographs from the Snoqualmie Valley)
There is always a subjective aspect in landscape art, something in the picture that tells us as much about who is behind the camera as about what is in front of it.
-Robert Adams, Beauty in Photography
I live just above the Snoqualmie valley; the view from my kitchen looks across the valley to the Carnation Research Farm.
Following the advice of Ruth Bernhard (and lots of others) to photograph what I see every day and what is close to home, I'm getting in the habit of putting the camera and tripod into the car, and heading down into the valley to photograph in the mornings and evenings when the mood strikes (and sometimes, taking heed of Jack London's admonition that "you can't wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club", when the mood doesn't). These photographs are the result.
Since this page just gets longer and longer, I've restructured the gallery into links to a series of sub galleries. The photos are roughly in chronological order, so I suppose you could view them in order and see changes in my vision as the project progresses.
